PRAYER ROOM POWER

How many times have you heard your pastor say, "Let's all get here
early to spend some time in prayer before the service begins. "I am sure that you cannot number the times that that has been said. There are some who wish he would not say anything about prayer rooms, because they know they should be there, but they have just not made that commitment to do so. These are the same ones that wonder why the service was so dead and dry. Why the pastor didn't preach with the anointing, or why the singing was bland! They want to blame everybody but themselves.

I can remember as a young child growing up on a Pentecostal pew, the
emphasis that was placed on the prayer room. I would hear some say,"It's
just thirty minutes, what difference will that make on the service". Another would say, "I prayed at home today, there is no need for me to come to church and pray." "The pastor should be glad I'm coming to church, and not make such a fuss over me not going to the prayer room."

The pastor is doing all he can to make the service the success it
needs to be. His main concern is for souls, and increasing the Kingdom of God. The word's of John the Baptist ring in my ears, "He (Jesus) must increase, but I must decrease." (John 3:30). We must all take this approach if we are to see the increase in God's Kingdom. In order to make the pastor's dream for that service a reality, we must help him conquer the enemy before we enter the doors to the sanctuary.

Some do not realize the importance of that thirty minute prayer
meeting. We are living in a world that is growing more wicked every day. It's worse now than ever before. The skeptic will say, "I hear that all the time, It's no worse than at any other time." Let's read what the bible says."...Evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse deceiving, and being deceived. (II Timothy 3:13) If the Apostle Paul saw it in his day how much more should we recognize it today. "As it was in the day's of Sodom...." We are living in that day. I believe we are fighting spirits on a greater level than did our forefathers. Paul instructs us on how to fight those spirits in Ephesians chapter six.

Don't think for one minute that just because we go to church that the
devil will wait out in the car until service is over. No! When we enter the
doors of the church he is right behind us to make sure we don't worship God or do anything that might embarrass us. But I tell you saint of God, if you make the prayer room the first thing you do, you can conquer that devil before he has a chance to hinder your worship. Witness the power of that prayer room experience, for greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world!

When we enter the prayer room we should have one thing on our mind,
and that is, the service that we are about to enter into. The enemy knows how to hinder a service more than we realize. I like the word's of one preacher when he said, "Satan is 2000 years wiser than when the Apostles were here." He knows what he is doing. But we have a weapon, and that is the prayer room. I am not placing less emphasis on prayer at home, that is important and we should have that time of devotion. What I am saying is, the prayer room is a time to empty out all the events of the day and fill it with praise and worship. We should never enter the service wondering what were going to cook for dinner tomorrow, how are the bills going to get paid, I wonder if So-in-So is still working at the plant, or I have got to clean my house before my mother-in-law comes this weekend or she'll think I'm an unfit wife. These may seem silly, but you will be surprised to know some of the thoughts that run through minds in a church service. And we wonder, "what happened to the service tonight?" "They sure didn't have it together." What about us? Let's wake up church and realize we need to bring POWER BACK IN THE PRAYER ROOM!

The prayer room is a place to pray for the service. We should reserve
our home prayer time to pray for Uncle, Aunt, Grandma, Grandpa, the turmoil at home, a financial blessing, the broken down car, or that boss we have to work with everyday. I believe if we pray for that service and that service only we will not only see results in the service, but we will see all other needs being met. How can we be sure? (Matthew 6:33) "But seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God, and all his righteousness; and all these things SHALL be added unto you. It's promised in His word, and God's word does not lie. Pray for souls in that service. If you know you have a family member or friend coming to that service then by all means call their names out. Pray that the moving of the Spirit will be there, and they will feel the same power that you experienced in the prayer room. The condition must be ripe in a service in order for the Lord to do his work. If it's not, don't blame anybody if you did not visit the prayer room.

In Acts chapter twelve, King Herod had the Apostle Peter thrown in
prison. He hated the church, he had just killed James, the brother of John,
with the sword. He had been harassing the church for some time. Herod did not know, there was a group of people praying for the release of Peter from prison. Herod did not want this man to escape so he set many soldiers to watch him. I like what was written in verse five, ".....but prayer was made without ceasing of the church for him." I believe that this group of church members were not praying for everything that just came to mind, or about other things pressing them in that day. But I believe they prayed for Peter and Peter only. There was a crises and they needed an answer from God. The scripture said, ".....prayer was made without ceasing ....for HIM. I don't have to tell you what happened. The Angel of the Lord came and delivered him. He will do the same for us, but we have to treat every service as a crises, because it is. It could mean the difference between Heaven or Hell for somebody. If we care about the Kingdom of God we will go to the PRAYER ROOM!

Let's go back to Pentecost. In Acts chapter two the scriptures tell
us, "...they were all with one accord in one place." I believe that the 120
gathered there, under the instructions of Jesus, had one thing in mind. "But ye shall receive POWER after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you..." (Acts 1:8). They received that power because of that powerful prayer (upper) room experience.

Let's get back to the basics of PRAYER ROOM POWER, and see what God
will do for us.
